W̱MÍYEŦEN Nature Sanctuary

(formerly Mary Lake)

Art Studio Fundraiser

Be part of creating an Art Studio in Nature

Creating an art focused facility to bring community artists together, bridging the gap in reconciliation, fostering, enriching and strengthening the fabric of our community.

This studio will provide a community oriented artistic space, in an environmentally sustainable milieu; away from the regular city centre, embedded in a natural environment, fostering quiet, calm and an abundance of sensorial creativity.

This project will foster an emerging partnership with various audiences, to bridge cultural barriers and foster a stronger sense of community amongst settlers and Indigenous Nations.

Most importantly, the Arts aren’t defined strictly to visual or music endeavors but extend more broadly to include activities that underpin the fabric of our society such as storytelling, culturally rooted practices which include song & dance etc.

Remaining Funding Needed

Back in Mar. 2021  the Westshore Arts Council received $75,000 in funding from the BC Arts Council towards the $105,000 budget needed to transform the carport of the Nature House at the W̱MÍYEŦEN Nature Sanctuary (Mary lake) into a dedicated art studio.

So far we have received $3,620 in Donations in Kind.

Remaining needed is $24,330 in donations by Oct. 15, 2023.

If  810 of our supporters donate a minimum of $30 we will meet our goal.

“Together, all together we become the instruments of change.”
